The County assembly of Lamu successfully conducted public participation forum at Juhudi Comprehensive School in Mkunumbi ward to gather citizens’ views on the FY 2026/2027 Budget Estimates. This exercise is anchored in Public Finance Management Act, 2012 and the Constitution of Kenya, which require public involvement in planning and budgeting processes.

The forum provided an opportunity for residents to contribute to priority setting, ensuring that the budget reflects local needs and development aspirations. The views and proposals from residents on priority development projects will enhance transparency and accountability in budgeting, promote inclusivity in decision-making, align ward priorities with the County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP)

Residents actively shared their views, concerns, and recommendations, reaffirming the importance of public participation in ensuring that the county budget reflects the needs and aspirations of the people.

The exercise was led by Deputy Speaker Hon Paul Kimani Njuguna and Members of the County Assembly Hon John Mburu Gitonga, Hon Shekhuna Abbass Shekhuna, Hon Amina Hassan Bwanamkuu, Hon Hope Wanjiku Mwaura and Hon Mercy Riziki Nzai and technical staff who engaged residents and stakeholders in discussions on development priorities and resource allocation for the upcoming financial year.
