Hon. Azhar Ali Mbarak elected as the Third Speaker of the County Assembly of Lamu, a position he assumed on 22nd September 2022. His election marked the rise of a young, energetic, and people-driven leader at the heart of Lamu’s legislative institution.
Before becoming Speaker, Hon. Azhar served the people of Shella Ward with great dedication and consistency, being elected for three consecutive terms as their Member of County Assembly (MCA). His long tenure in the Assembly speaks to his deep understanding of legislative work and his close connection with the community he represented.
During his time as MCA, Hon. Azhar was known for his inclusive approach to leadership and his commitment to community development. He actively supported initiatives that promoted education, youth participation, and peaceful coexistence across Lamu’s diverse communities. As Speaker, Hon.
