The County Assembly of Lamu continues to strengthen its internal systems to align with ongoing national reforms in public procurement. In October, officers from the Assembly received hands-on guidance on the Electronic Government Procurement (EGP) system during a session held in Mombasa.

The engagement, facilitated by officers from the National Treasury, provided practical support to help the Assembly staff operate efficiently within the EGP platform. It focused on key areas such as creating and managing requisitions, preparing and publishing tenders, handling submission and evaluation workflows, managing contracts, and resolving technical challenges that arise during the process.

This exercise marked an important step in ensuring that the County Assembly fully adopts the EGP system in line with government standards. By strengthening its capacity to use digital procurement tools, the Assembly is reinforcing its role in promoting transparency, accountability, and efficiency—values that are central to its legislative, oversight, and representative mandate.

The Assembly remains committed to embracing innovations that make public resource management more open and effective. Implementing the EGP system reflects a continued effort to uphold good governance, ensure prudent use of public funds, and deliver on the Assembly’s promise of responsible service to the people of Lamu County.

As part of its ongoing modernization agenda, the County Assembly will continue to work closely with relevant national agencies to sustain progress in digital transformation and compliance with evolving public sector systems
